Grooming Workshop for Zhenghua Secondary School

Grooming Workshop for Zhenghua Secondary School

The final year in secondary school will always be remembered for many reasons. While I’m sure students are happy to graduate (as it means no more exams!), it is also poignant because we will soon bid farewell to our classmates and go our separate ways. For the academically inclined, we will further our studies at a polytechnic or junior college. And for others, it could mean the start of gainful employment.

Regardless of which path one chooses, it is imperative to prepare oneself for it. And there is no better way than to pick up essential lifeskills in today’s grooming workshop.

The word ‘grooming’ may mean different things to different people. Yes, that’s because grooming covers a wide universe of topics. Chosen specially to cater to the needs of the graduating students of Zhenghua Secondary School, today’s grooming workshop focused on colours, styles, skincare, makeup, dining etiquette and interview skills. Through these six core modules, students will be better equipped to handle the challenges of the modern world. More importantly, they will be able to step out in confidence.

If you ask me, colours and styles will always go hand-in-hand in any image mastery programme. Wearing your best colours and the right styles that flatter your body shape will not only make you looker younger, it is also the fastest way to upping your image quotient in the eyes of both self and others.

Like it or not, people are visual creatures. We like to see beautiful objects and be associated with beautiful people. As an ex-human resource manager for close to 4 years, I should know this better than anyone else. While we hired, we not only looked at grades. We also looked at how one presented him/herself at the interview, the mannerisms, poise and of course, potential of the candidate. First impressions matter…a great deal!

Thus, if we can just use the simple tips in class today to make ourselves better groomed, there is certainly enough merit to persist.

Till today, I still enjoy teaching grooming workshops in Singapore because every batch of participants is different. And like the starfish story, I’m like the little boy along the beach making a significant difference in the lives of each starfish (person) I touch.
