My Story
As one of Singapore's most prolific lifestyle coaches, Lionel Lim, B. Arts (Honours), Dip (Style Coaching™), Dip (Training & Professional Speaking), is also a workshop trainer and published author. He is a certified Style Coach™ from the prestigious Style Coaching™ Institute; American Muscle and Fitness Personal Training Institute (AMFPT) Certified Master Trainer, Personal Trainer and Sports Nutritionist. For both the master trainer and sports nutritionist examinations, Lionel was personally commended by the exams board for having test scores that ranked at the top of all graduates.His expertise lies in weight loss, weight gain, toning, nutrition assessment, menu selection and supplementation. He also specializes in personality styles, colour analysis, body shapes, face shapes and personal shopping.
Like most of you, Lionel has had to battle with health, weight and self-esteem problems in his life. Being sickly, acne-prone and underweight, Lionel’s biggest demon was his own inferiority complex. He didn’t know how to interact well with others as he just felt awkward. The Lionel back then was truly miserable as he was like a hermit living in his own world.
The turning point in his life came in Aug 2005 when his father was diagnosed with cancer. Watching his father grow weaker day after day was a timely wake-up for Lionel. That was when he decided to take positive steps to change his life the way he wanted it to be.
From being sickly and stick-thin then, Lionel has successfully transformed himself into the fit, toned and charming individual he is today. Gone are the days of his lack of self-esteem and low confidence.
To further challenge himself, he took part in a series of competitions such as The Straits Times Urban/Marina Square Fall Winter Contest 2007 and Giant Stars 2006. He was the runner-up in The Straits Times Urban/Marina Square Fall Winter Contest 2007; and bagged the Most Confident Smile Award for Giant Stars 2006.
He is the winner of the August Man A-Listers/SkinInc Skincare Challenge 2010. In addition, Lionel is also the newly minted Mister Singapore United Nation 2011. Most recently, Lionel was voted as Singapore's 100 Most Loved Beauty Professionals.
Lionel is living proof that ectomorphs (skinny people with small muscles and very high metabolism) can gain weight the healthy way and build beautiful lean ripped muscles. More importantly, he is testimony that as long as one continues to strive in life, nothing is too Herculean a task. If Lionel can overcome his challenges, so can you!
Lionel brings with him seven years of real world experience in Human Resource, Training and Service Quality. Some of the highlights of his illustrious career include helping his organisation attain the Singapore Service Class and Family Friendly Employer Award; excelling as the People Developer Manager; contributing as a member of the interview panel board for three consecutive years; and being involved in large-scale national events such as Singapore General Elections 2006 and International Monetary Fund (IMF)/World Bank meetings in 2006. His professional background, coupled with his innovative training methods has helped his audience and clients learn faster and yet have fun at the same time. Having been through the ebbs of life personally and dealing with the demise of his beloved grandmother and father consecutively, Lionel is able to relate to his clients as he understands their internal struggles and stories. Through the years, he has formulated a recipe of success. His passion in wanting to share his story and helping others turn their lives around was so strong that he left the corporate world to fulfill his mission. He now helps his clients and workshop participants with their fitness goals, meal plans, grooming challenges and mindset shifts.
Lionel is also a certified American Board of NLP (Neuro-Linguistics Programming), American Board of Hypnotherapy and Time Line Therapy Association practitioner. In particular, Lionel incorporates NLP techniques and meditation into his teachings as they have been instrumental in giving his life the much needed balance.
Lionel’s works on lifestyle, health, fitness and grooming have been published in both the United States and Singapore. He is the creator of fitness programmes such as 'My Resistance Band Aid’ and ‘My Body My Gym’. In Dec 2011, he became the first in Singapore to launch a fitness calendar 2012.
Besides training individuals and groups, Lionel has also been approached by corporations, organizations and educational institutes to conduct grooming workshops, health talks and fitness sessions. His signature workshops 'Create A First Impression that Lasts', 'The Visual Art of Looking Good', 'Quality Lifestyle, Quality Performance' and 'Train The Trainer Certification Programme' in particular have been well-received as Lionel has a good pulse on the latest developments in each field.
His unique ability to take difficult concepts and simplify them, coupled with his diverse teaching methods which range from games, videos, 'hot seats', role plays, sharing sessions and hands-on practice have been constantly commended upon.

In April 2011, he was invited to judge the Classic Mrs Malaysia International World 2011 in Kuala Lumpur. Back home in Singapore, he was the judge for the inaugural Miss & Ms Amazing Plus Size Beauty Pageant 2010.
He also contributes to helping participants up their image quotient by virtue of his presence as image consultant to the Top 24 semi-finalists of the Kovan Superstar 2010 Singing Competition, Mrs Singapore Southeast Asia 2011 and Amazing Lifestyles 2011.
